Our Philosophy

– “A Natural Result Without Obvious Signs Of Surgery Is Our Ultimate Cosmetic Goal.”
I believe that natural results without obvious signs of surgery is the goal of any cosmetic procedure. By combining superior medical knowledge, training, and technical skill with artistry and a sensitive, compassionate touch, I strive to provide my patients with a natural appearance. This improved, elegant look should avoid looking artificial while fulfilling the individual patient’s desired goals.

– “The Face Is Our Identity.”
The face represents our identity to the outside world, to our friends, to our family, and most importantly, to ourselves. Our goal is to improve the components of the face that are undesirable to the patient while preserving the elements of the face that give the patient his or her unique identity. As a result, each procedure must be tailored to the individual patient.

– “Form Must Never Compromise Function.”
As we seek to improve the appearance of the patient, this improvement in form should never result in a compromise of function. For example, the most beautiful rhinoplasty result is worthless if the patient is unable to breathe through the nose.

– “An Extraordinary Experience Is Our Goal With Each And Every Patient.”
We like what we do and we want our patients to enjoy their time with us. No matter how much a patient is looking forward to the improvement that will result from a procedure, there is always anxiety associated with the procedure itself. Our goal is to make each patient’s experience exceptional.

Our facility offers a comfortable, private setting for consultations and surgery. During your visit, you will have an opportunity to meet with our staff, Dr. Ward, and learn about all the procedures we offer to help you achieve your desired look.

Plastic Surgery FAQ

Are there any real differences in surgeries done by plastic surgeons vs. other doctors?
Yes! Plastic surgeons receive training in improving the appearance of their patients. This training occurs after medical school to ensure that you trust your face and body to the most capable surgeon. Don’t allow anyone without proper training and experience to operate on your face!

There are two tracks that allow a surgeon to perform plastic surgery on the face. The first track is through the facial plastic surgery track, which includes a residency in otolaryngology—head and neck surgery followed by fellowship in facial plastic surgery. This training takes about six years after medical school. This might seem interesting to some that otolaryngology—head and neck surgery, a specialty known as Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT), would perform facial plastic surgery. However, the first plastic surgeon, Dr. Gillies, was an otolaryngologist. When one thinks about the training, it becomes obvious why this specialty is a good fit for facial plastic surgery—all the training is spent in the head and neck area. These doctors really know their way around the face and know the anatomy inside and out to deliver safe care with amazing results. Most facial plastic surgeons spend most of their time doing rhinoplasty, facelift, blepharoplasty (eyelid lift), hair transplants, brow lifts, and filler/botox injections). Look for board certification in facial plastic surgery by the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS) and by the American Board of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery (ABOto—HNS).

The other track is through the general plastic surgery track. This track involves roughly six years of training—three years of general surgery work (think about things like hernias, breast mass biopsies, mastectomies, gall bladders, appendices, and bowel problems) and three years of plastic surgery. These surgeons spend their time during the plastic surgery phases of their training doing plastic surgery of the whole body—not just the face—and so they become board certified to do plastic surgery of the whole body. As opposed to facial plastic surgeons, these surgeons perform surgery of the whole body. This means that they are not as specialized as a facial plastic surgeon, but they have received training in all these areas during their 3 years of plastic surgery training. In addition, their general surgery training provides great exposure to issues that affect their practice. For example, a lot of tummy tuck patients may have hernias. Since general plastic surgeons have this background, they can diagnose and treat this problem, if necessary. Most plastic surgeons spend most of their time performing breast augmentation, breast lifts, liposuction, abdominoplasty (tummy tucks). Look for board certification in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS).
