The Ins And Outs Of Chin Procedures

Chin Procedures

Many people may not pay much thought to their chin, however, your chin can really determine which features on your face look more prominent or less prominent which can play into your overall appearance. Because no chins are the same, Dr. Ward takes a highly personalized approach to every chin procedure starting with your consultation.

The Chin Surgery Consultation

The consultation is always the first step of any surgical procedure. You will meet with Dr. Ward to go over any questions or concerns you may have about the surgical procedure. In addition to that, Dr. Ward will evaluate your chin and this is when you can discuss your expectations and what you’d like your results to look like. At this point, Dr. Ward will give you his honest opinion about those goals and help you to manage your expectations and go over any of the potential risks involved. This is the part that varies from person to person, so be as upfront and honest about what you’re looking for during your consultation.

Before your surgery, you will also have to disclose your pre-operative history and undergo a physical exam to ensure you don’t have any health concerns. We will also give you instructions on how to prepare for your procedure and what to do afterward as well as the prescriptions you’ll need for pain management.

The Chin Surgery Recovery

After your procedure, you will need to schedule follow-up appointments with us so we can check on the healing process. Other than checking up on how it’s healing, we’re also interested to hear about how you feel about the results. We are committed to making sure you heal properly and that you love your new chin. If you have any issues, we need to know about it.

As a general rule, you should avoid blood thinners, anything with ibuprofen, aspirin, and even some herbal supplements for 3-4 weeks before your surgery. If you are taking any other prescription medications, we also need to know about those beforehand. Certain medications, like the ones mentioned above, may impact bruising and bleeding that you will experience after surgery.
