Interested In A Facelift? Here’s How To Prepare

What To Know Before Getting A Facelift

Facelifts are one of the most popular procedures that Dr. Ward performs at his clinic. It is a safe and effective treatment that has been proven to provide a lasting, youthful look that looks very natural. Let’s take a look at the basics of what a facelift is and some of the ways you can prepare for your procedure.

First of all, there are two different kinds of facelifts Dr. Ward performs: a full facelift or a mini facelift. As you can imagine from the name, a mini facelift uses much smaller incisions and its results are much more subtle. The recovery time also requires less downtime and is generally easier.

Now that you know there are two different options, the next step is the consultation. During your consultation, you can discuss what it is exactly about your face that you’d like to have changed. This can help determine whether the mini or the full facelift would be best for you. You can also discuss any other questions and concerns and become comfortable with your doctor.

After the consultation, you’ll likely be scheduling your surgery. You will not have to worry about staying overnight, as facelifts are always outpatient procedures. How long the procedure takes varies from patient to patient but it typically takes around four hours for a face and neck lift.

You may be a good candidate for a facelift if you have:

  • Mid-face sagging
  • Deep creases under your eyes
  • Jowls formed along your jawline
  • Fatty, saggy skin along your cheekbones
  • Loose skin, wrinkles, and/or fatty neck tissue

Other factors such as environmental issues, personal habits, sun damage, genetics, and stress may also come into play as well.

Before your surgery, Dr. Ward will give you instructions on what to do before, during, and after the day of surgery. You will also be given the prescriptions for the medications that you need to take after your procedure.

Our goal is to make you feel as comfortable and prepared as possible before your procedure. If you have other concerns or questions, don’t hesitate to ask us now or during your consultation. If you’d like to speak with us or schedule an appointment call us here 801-513-FACE (801-513-3223).
